Wildlife Sites in Rushcliffe

Widmerpool Notified Road verge

How to get there:

The site is part of the public highway.

Information

Notable calcareous verges where a range of grasses occur including tor grass, rough meadow-grass, quaking grass and crested dogstail. The bank section contains cowslip, salad burnet, dropwort, southern marsh-orchid, bee orchid, meadow vetchling, fairy flax, bugle and yellow-rattle.

The inappropriate planting of masses of daffodils is unfortunate but does not seem to be damaging the native flora.
